Before you begin work on a commercial project, you must buy a Develop License for $250/ month in the 8th Wall Console. When the project is ready to launch, upgrade to one of the following commercial Launch Licenses:
For custom commercial agreements and pricing, contact Licensing.
A project requires a commercial license if you’re planning to use it for any business or promotional use case. Ex. 1) You’re an agency and you have a contract to develop a WebAR campaign for a client; 2) You’re a company building a WebAR project or integrating 8th Wall’s technology into your platform.
A project doesn’t require a commercial license if it’s a tutorial, an exploration, a private demo, or a sample project to showcase work to prospective clients.
A “view” is a request from a web browser to the 8th Wall platform when a user visits your WebAR experience and approves permissions to initiate an AR session. If the camera doesn’t open, no view has occurred.
As soon as you start development on a commercial project, you need to purchase a Develop License. You will not be charged for views during development, and once you launch your WebAR project you will no longer be charged the monthly Develop License fee.
You need to upgrade to a Launch License at the moment you are ready to go public with your WebAR project. If your project gets canceled or doesn’t launch, you will never be charged for a Launch License.
The Launch License includes 4 pricing options to accommodate your project scope and budget, determined by the amount of traffic you anticipate. Usage-based options give you the flexibility to pay as you go, while pre-paid bundles allow you to better control your campaign costs with a fixed monthly rate.
You purchase commercial-use licenses in the 8th Wall Console. When you’re ready, simply create a new web app and select “Commercial.” Choose your payment method and preferred Launch License, then proceed to checkout. You have the option to change your Launch License prior to launching, and you will only be charged for the Develop License until you choose to launch your WebAR project.
No. Once you promote your WebAR project from Develop to Launch, you are only responsible for the Launch License fees while that project is public. You can continue to develop and iterate on a launched project without incurring additional fees.
