The i|o team, at Perkins & Will, is excited to launch an augmented reality experience to accompany the Branded Environments animation showcased for an month long exclusive engagement at the annual Art on the Mart, projection mapping series on the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, IL. Currents AR immerses users in the space of the narrative through a novel use of people tracking and the 8th Wall platform.
In app, passersby become “the Dot,” triggering playful interactions and unlocking a living, breathing kaleidoscope. Watch the currents of the city fill the space with color, tap the screen to add to the fun, snap a pic and share with your friends.
To acheive the effects, a custom inferencing engine built with YOLO enabled the people tracking that interacts with the AR scene.
