8th Wall Content Guidelines

About these guidelines

8th Wall enables developers with a powerful set of tools to create immersive experiences that inspire movement, exploration, and encourage a deeper connection to the real-world including the people, places and things around us. In order to ensure that these experiences are safe and fun for users, Developers and Visitors (as those terms are defined in the 8th Wall Terms and Conditions, referred to in these guidelines as the “Terms”) are required to abide by these content guidelines. To support this, we may actively review the content you create with our platform, flagged by another user or automated systems, and take action.

Capitalized terms used in these guidelines have the meaning given to them in the Terms.

Never use 8th Wall to create prohibited content

Prohibited content includes:

  • Hate speech or content that promotes hatred based on a person or groups’ identity, for instance on the basis of their race, ethnicity, religion, gender or gender identity, disability, sex or sexual orientation or any other identity factor.

  • Content that promotes, encourages, or affiliates with terrorist organizations or violent extremist groups.

  • Content that glorifies violence or features gore for sadistic purposes

  • Antagonistic speech or actions, including behavior that bullies, abuses, or harasses others.

  • Content posted to defame, abuse, harass or threaten another person or group.

  • Pornographic content.

  • Content that sexualizes minors.

  • Content that promotes or assists in illegal activity or facilitates transaction of prohibited goods.

  • Spam, unofficial ads, promotions, or content that is designed to mislead, deceive, or otherwise harm users.

  • Content that violates other’s intellectual property rights including copyrights or trademarks.

  • Any content that promotes violations of our Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, or these guidelines themselves.

Never publish sensitive content on 8th Wall

You may not publish sensitive content on 8thwall.com or to an 8thwall.app domain using our Hosting Services.

Sensitive content includes:

  • Recreational Drugs and drug-related content; including but not limited to legalized controlled substances, pipes, bongs, cannabis shops and/or information or depictions pertaining to the sale, use or abuse of any controlled or illegal drugs, substances, or other dangerous products

  • Tobacco; including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, tobacco pipes, rolling papers, vape pens, herbal cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vaping

  • Adult content; including but not limited to strip clubs, erotic cinemas, sex toys, adult magazines, sexual enhancement products, matchmaking sites, models in sexualized poses; adult chat rooms or social sites

  • Sensitive; topics or subject matter that would be considered controversial topics to a reasonable person including but not limited to, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, abortion; acts that result in the loss of human lives, war or armed conflict, tragic events, terrorist acts; or the promotion by governmental entities, political parties, individual candidates and/or political issue advocacy

  • Firearms; including but not limited to firearms themselves, bullets, ammunition, silencers and/or other associated products; firearm-making instructions, guides, software, or equipment for 3D printing of guns or gun parts

  • Content that includes graphic imagery, blood or violence.

Note: You may be able to use the 8th Wall platform to create commercial projects that use sensitive content in certain restricted fashion (requiring self-hosting or your own domains). If this applies to your use case, please contact licensing@8thwall.com for more information.

Never create dangerous experiences

8th Wall provides unprecedented ways to create immersive AR experiences for your users. Do not create experiences that could place users in a dangerous location or situation.

Respect your user’s privacy

Put privacy at the heart of your web app development. Respect the privacy of your users and don’t create experiences that encourage users to invade the privacy of others.

How we enforce the Terms of Service and these guidelines.

We will review reported apps or projects and will determine whether or not they violate the Terms of Service and/or these policies. Developer accounts may be penalized for violations of the Terms of Service and/or these policies. Users who violate our Terms of Service and/or these policies may also be penalized for violations. Depending on the violation, we may issue a warning, suspend your account, or permanently terminate your account without warning.
