The ZEISS Diary webAR is a modern analog calendar upgraded with AR features to announce and communicate the release of new products along the year.

Challenge:

Every year Carl ZEISS publishes a print calendar for employees and different partners. Intending to bring more innovation into their digital presence, the company consulted innovation.rocks to develop an Augmented Reality solution,. that would connect the analog with the digital. According to the motto of the calendar 2020 “Measuring Hero Awards” the idea was to include QR codes.on some pages that would lead to AR and multimedia contents and announce the release of products along the year.

Solution:

The ZEISS Diary webAR is the answer to this challenge: By combining the printed notebook with a webAR Viewer application, developed with the technology of 8th Wall, the user receives.the chance to experience the calendar on two different levels. By scanning the QR-codes, many pages can be experienced virtually thanks to a variety of digital extensions like animations,.videos and many more that communicate and announce the release of new products. The highlight of the web-based Augmented Reality experience is the animated 3D Avatar of the real-life brand ambassador “Jay”. He introduces the application and gives insights into metrology and even takes a quiz with the user in different languages. By this, all ZEISS employees around the globe can discover their 2020 calendar in AR.
