Our Inspiration

Use Niantic’s VPS to make the ordinary extraordinary. Everyday we walk by post boxes and they are a staple piece in the streets of our physical world. Something unnoticed and unremarkable that has lost prominence given the prevalence of digital communication. Our goal was to use VPS to make a familiar object we all know in the world and bring it to life with AR. Develop the experience in 48hrs. After reviewing the VPS platform, we set ourselves an objective for this experience to develop an end-to-end VPS game in 48hrs including: creative ideation, environment scan, 3D content creation, VPS development, deployment. VPS was so straight forward to work with that we assembled all the fundamentals of a location-based game within 48hrs. This is a testament to both the ease of use and power of VPS and the experience of our team with 8th Wall.

Testimonials

“With Niantic’s new VPS technology, we can create location-based games and experiences with solid tracking, occlusion, and physics simulations in the real-world,” said Patrick Johnson, CEO of Rock Paper Reality. “VPS outperformed our expectations during our first trial. We can’t wait to show the world what’s possible with 8th Wall’s new web-based technology.”

“Niantic’s new Virtual Position System (VPS) for the web is a breeze to work with. I simply scanned the activation area, placed anchor points on the scan where I wanted the virtual objects to appear and connected everything up with a few lines of code. It really is that simple!”-- Thorsten Bux, AR Expert at Rock Paper Reality
