After more than seven incredible years, we’ve made the difficult decision to wind down the 8th Wall service.

While this chapter is closing, we are committed to ensuring the legacy of the technology continues. We are actively exploring options to open source key components of 8th Wall technology and documentation to make them available to the community. 

Our goal is to make this transition clear and predictable by preserving ongoing work, supporting exports, and opening the technology to the next generation of builders.

What’s Happening

Live projects, hosted experiences, and active campaigns will remain online and fully operational through February 28,  2027. Nothing will change overnight. Developers will have time to complete campaigns and export their work before the platform fully shuts down.

All 8th Wall products and services - including 8th Wall Studio, Cloud Editor, and Asset Lab - will be shut down in stages:

• February 28, 2026: End of platform access. At this time, developers will no longer be able to create an account, log in, edit or create projects, or export projects or assets.
• February 28, 2026 - February 28, 2027: Existing published/hosted projects continue to function, but users cannot log in or modify their projects.
• After February 28, 2027: 8th Wall hosting services will be decommissioned, and remaining project data deleted in line with our data-retention policy.
  

This schedule ensures all existing projects and campaigns will continue running through the full hosting window. Throughout this time period, we’ll also share updates on which components will be made open source and the timelines for their release as these details take shape.

8th Wall は7年以上、サービスを提供してまいりましたが、この度、当サービスを終了することを決断いたしました。

 

今後わたしたちは、当該技術が今後も継承されていくよう全力を尽くします。現在、8th Wall 技術および関連ドキュメントの主要要素がコミュニティの皆さまにご活用いただけるようオープンソース化の可能性を検討しております。

進行中のプロジェクトの保全、エクスポート機能のサポート、そして技術を次世代の開発者へ提供することにより、透明性のある移行を実現することを目指しております。

 

今後の予定

現在公開されている体験は、2027年2月までこれまで通りオンラインでご利用いただけます。プロジェクト作業の完了、データの保存などができる期間を設けております。

8th Wall のすべての製品およびサービス（8th Wall Studio、Cloud Editor、Asset Lab など）は、以下のスケジュールで段階的に終了します。

• 2026 年 2 月 28 日：プラットフォームアクセス終了
  この日以降は、新規アカウント作成、ログイン、プロジェクトの作成・編集、アセットやプロジェクトのエクスポートができなくなります。
• 2026 年 2 月 28 日〜2027 年 2 月 28 日：ホスティング継続期間
  公開／ホスト済みプロジェクトは利用できますが、ログインや編集は行えません。
• 2027 年 2 月 28 日以降：ホスティングサービス終了
  ホスティングを終了し、残存データはデータ保持ポリシーに沿って削除されます。

このスケジュールにより、既存プロジェクトやキャンペーンがホスティング期間中稼働し続けます。また、この期間中、オープンソース化するコンポーネントや公開時期について、準備が整い次第、随時ご案内いたします。
