We’re excited to announce a new challenge coming to the 8th Wall community! For the May challenge we will explore the amazing real-world applications of VPS for Web with prizes worth over $20k!
VPS for Web allows you to create location-based web AR experiences that connect the real world with the digital one. The technology gives new meaning to locations by unlocking its digital twin which can be augmented to create an infinite amount of extraordinary experiences. This drives traffic to a specific location, such as a statue in a park or a storefront in a city, to delight and engage users in brand new ways that result in real-world value.
Let the challenge begin
We will kick off the challenge with a VPS for Web Info Session on May 2nd, so participants could have a product overview of VPS, challenge eligibility, rules, judging criteria, and more! The challenge will run throughout the month of May, and end on June 5th. During this time, participants will have access to resources and developer support in the #challenges Slack channel, where they can connect with other developers and seek help. Over $20k in Prizes up for Grabs
The VPS Grand Prize will be awarded to the entry with the best overall submission covering the criteria of VPS, innovation with 8th Wall, Niantic’s mission, and completeness. Additionally, we will select 3 other top winners including: Best VPS Utility Prize to the entry with the best practical benefit to the end user while leveraging VPS, Most Scalable VPS Experience Prize to the entry with an AR experience that can easily spawn at any VPS wayspot, and a VPS Fun Prize awarded to the entry with the funnest AR experience that leverages VPS. It doesn’t end there, the public will vote for 1 community favorite and our judges will also select 9 entries as honorable mentions with a $1000 cash prize.
