NBC uses WebAR to let viewers explore the mysterious anomaly from its new show “Debris”

To mark the premiere of its new show, Debris, NBC is using augmented reality to let viewers get up close with the mysterious debris prior to the show.

The Debris is a new science fiction show premiering on NBC on March 1. The show follows two partners from a secretive international agency, British agent Finola Jones and American agent Bryan Beneventi, as they investigate a mysterious wreckage which has fallen from the sky and scattered across the Western Hemisphere. Each fragment of the Debris has unpredictable and powerful effects on the people who find it and these agents must find out where it came from and most importantly what it can do.

Created by Home Brew Agency, this interactive web-based augmented reality experience places the Debris in the viewer’s own world space and lets them investigate this scientific anomaly from all angles. Tapping on blue pulsing pieces of the Debris activates hot spots which trigger video clips from the show including the official trailer and exclusive sneak peek clips. Viewers can then use the record button to either take a photo or record a video of the Debris in their environment to share their findings with friends and family.
