To celebrate the L.A. Dodgers World Series win in 2020, Anheuser-Busch InBev owned brand Golden Road Brewing worked with WebAR agency Aircards to deliver a unique branded WebAR Face Effect. The experience enabled fans to celebrate the win, drink a virtual can of Dodgers Blonde Ale and also trigger falling L.A. Dodgers logo confetti. The campaign was delivered across both digital and print channels, including Golden Road Brewing's social media and a full-page print advertisement in the L.A. Times newspaper that included a QR code activation.
We were delighted to help L.A. Dodger fans celebrate their epic World Series win! As an 8th Wall Premier Partner, there is no other developer platform to which we would turn to create an outstanding WebAR experience for our client network, and this project for AB InBev was no different. Creating a WebAR Face Effect enabled the brand to reach a diverse audience across a variety of online and print channels, something that app-based AR can't match.
Dodgers fans were able to celebrate the World Series win with a WebAR Face Effect which featured the Dodgers Blonde Ale. The Face Effect put a L.A. Dodgers cap on the user and prompted them to “Tap To Celebrate!”. Once tapped, fans could drink a virtual can of Dodgers Blonde Ale and sparked falling L.A. Dodgers logo confetti. Fans could then take a photo or video of them celebrating with the filter and share it on social media. They could also tap to redeem a rebate coupon, which activated a custom map integration to show their nearest physical store location to purchase the Dodgers Blonde Ale.
Fans engaged with the branded WebAR Face Effects experience for 1 minute and 28 seconds on average. Dodger fans spent time having fun with the face filter, replaying it multiple times, viewing the custom map and tapping through to the rebate. In fact, this experience demonstrated an 18% click-through-rate of the rebate found in-experience.
