Project Overview

For the return of its Career Fair in 2021, Unilever's Pot Noodle partnered with WebAR agency Aircards to launch a multi-platform virtual event. The mobile version was a full web-based augmented reality experience which allowed students to “Tap to Place” the 3D career fair in their own living room. Students could physically walk around the fair, visit the employer booths and click-through to apply to the alternative career available. This led to students spending an average of 4 minutes and 30 seconds in the experience with an 8% conversion rate of job applicants. This resulted in a 500% increase in job applications as compared to previous in person career fairs events.

Aircards worked with Pot Noodle to create a highly innovative virtual event experience in WebAR, leveraging the power of 8th Wall to make it possible. The 8th Wall platform provided the robust functionality which was required to enable speedy loading times for an experience which utilised multiple event booths and interactive video touchpoints within a single immersive AR scene.

The Experience

Unilever's Pot Noodle experience featured a scalable virtual career fair including a custom CMS that would allow the client to make changes to the 3D event booths and to deploy the assets in a WebAR environment. Students could “Tap to Place” the 3D career fair in their own world space and apply for the available jobs from a range of different employers. Each employer had their own branded virtual booth as well as a TV on their 3D table, enabling the brand to showcase a video which talks directly to the students. The experience was then promoted across social media by Student Marketing Agency Raptor Marketing.

Results

The virtual career fair attracted 385% more attendees than previous in-person events. While at the virtual career fair, students spent on average 4 minutes and 30 seconds within the experience exploring and interacting with the 3D booths. This resulted in an 8% conversion rate of students who accessed the experience and applied for a job and resulted in ~500% increase in job applications as compared to previous IRL career fairs events.
